360º virtual tour aboard classic cars for the Salamanca museum
The Museum of the History of Motoring in Salamanca wanted its visitors to be able to climb into the vehicles they can otherwise only look at from outside.
Film 360º drives through different parts of the Salamanca countryside aboard historic vehicles, so that visitors could experience driving a museum piece.
A historic car behind glass is admired but not enjoyed. The museum had the vehicles and the city as a backdrop; what was missing was a way of getting the visitor into the seat.
An unattended virtual reality area inside the museum, with automatic start-up and several routes to choose from, extending the visit without adding to the staffing load.
An automated application was built for the headsets: as soon as they are put on, the device and the app wake by themselves and the content starts, with no controllers and no permanent technical staff in the room.
The museum has a virtual reality area built into its route, with ergonomic seating and headsets. As well as seeing the outside and inside of the vehicles, visitors ride through part of the city aboard them.
