Why hire Ray-Ban Meta

Neither is a virtual reality headset: they are glasses you wear, and that is the point at an event. Nobody is cut off or gets motion sick, they can be worn all day, and they record in first person what the wearer is seeing. The difference between the two models is the display: Ray-Ban Meta you listen to, the Display ones you also look at. They are also written Rayban, Ray Ban or Ray-Ban Meta, and they are the same product.

They are hired separately and they do not do the same thing. Here is the difference, with the specs of each one.

Ray-Ban Meta (2nd generation)

The familiar ones, with camera and sound. No display: what you see is the street, and information reaches you through the speaker. This is the model for kitting out a lot of people at once, because there is stock and because there is nothing to learn.

Ray-Ban Meta Display

They carry a monocular display in the right lens and are operated with the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that reads the electrical signals in your forearm: you select by pinching thumb and index finger, without raising your hand or speaking. This is the model to impress with, and the one we hold few units of.

Questions about hiring Ray-Ban Meta

What is the difference between Ray-Ban Meta and Ray-Ban Meta Display?

The display. Ray-Ban Meta have a camera, speakers, microphones and artificial intelligence, but everything they give back is sound. Ray-Ban Meta Display add a 600 × 600 px monocular display in the right lens, so you can also see messages, directions or a translation as you go, and they are operated with the neural wristband rather than by voice.

How many units of each model are there?

Of the Ray-Ban Meta we hold more than 50 units, enough to kit out a whole hosting team or the guests at an activation. Of the Ray-Ban Meta Display the units are limited: it is a very recent and very scarce product, so it is worth booking well ahead and they are usually used as a highlight rather than to cover everybody.

What is the Meta Neural Band and do you need to learn to use it?

It is a wristband worn on the forearm that reads the electrical signals in your muscles, so it recognises the smallest of gestures: pinching thumb and index finger selects, thumb and middle finger goes back. You do not have to raise your hand or speak. It takes under a minute to learn and our technician explains it to every guest.

What are glasses like these used for at an event?

Mainly two things. One, generating first-person content: whoever wears them records what they see without pulling out a phone, and that material gets published there and then. And two, as a technology draw on the stand, because people want to try them and ask questions. The Display ones add a third use: showing information to the wearer without the audience noticing, which works very well for speakers and floor staff.

Is it written Ray-Ban, Rayban or Ray Ban?

The brand is Ray-Ban, hyphenated, and the products are officially called Ray-Ban Meta and Ray-Ban Meta Display. You will see all three spellings and they are the same product: the smart glasses Meta and Ray-Ban make together.

Do you set them up with our content?

Yes. They come paired, updated, with accounts created and with whatever permissions and settings the event needs. If a custom application or publishing flow is required, we develop it.

Do they record people without them knowing?

No, and it is worth spelling out because it is the most common question. The glasses turn on a visible light while recording, and our staff explain how they work both to whoever wears them and to the people around. At events open to the public we put up signage.
